Master Sensei John Douvris holds a 8th Degree Black Belt from the World Karate Kickboxing Council (WKC). Master Peter Douvris holds a 6th Degree Black Belt from the WKC and a 1st Degree Black Belt from the World Taekwon Do Federation (WTF). Master John and Peter are the chief Karate and Cardio Kickboxing Instructors for Douvris Martial Arts & Fitness Centers (DMAFC).
Master John is a multi-time Canadian Sport Karate Sparring Champion. In 1993, he was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame as "Instructor of the Year". In 1995, Master John and Master Peter co-hosted the IAKSA World Championships which brought representatives from 33 countries to Canada. At this event, Master John received an IAKSA Medal of Honour for promoting the sport of kickboxing in Canada.
In 1995, Master John became the Canadian President of the IAKSA Federation and the Vice-President of World Karate Association (WKA). As well in 1995, Master John and Peter were selected as the WKA and IAKSA coaches of the Canadian National Teams. In 1999, Master Peter became the Canadian Vice-President of WKA-Ontario. Together, they have graduated over 1000 Black Belt members.
Since 2000, Master Peter has been coordinating and raising funds for community and charitable organizations such as the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and has raised over $60,000.
Most recently, John has been appointed World Karate and Kickboxing Council [WKC] Canadian President. Peter is also heavily involved in this prestigious organization and is now a WKC National Coach.
